I have registered a domain myself. Can I still host it with you?

Yes, it is not a requirement that the domain is registered through us in order to host it. Although we offer a range of domain name extensions for you to register or transfer in to us, we are unable to offer them all.

Also, both Plesk and our servers can support any domain name and extensions that is permitted at the moment (including the IDN, or International Domain Names, standard where available).

If you want to register your domain with another provider, that's fine. Once registered, there are two ways to set up the domain to use our hosting services, as detailed below. Parts of this article will discuss DNS. For information about how DNS works, please see our article:

Changing Name-servers

The recommended method is to change the DNS name servers of the domain to point to the server you are on (see your Account Details e-mail for more information).

By doing this, you are telling the visitors who are trying to access your domain that our servers have authority over the DNS, and that we will give any computer the information about on which server/computer the domain is hosted. This is the recommended solution as your DNS will be automatically updated when you make any changes to your domain, such as adding a sub-domain, through Plesk.

If you are unsure about how to set this up, or need more information about your name servers, please Submit a Ticket to our Support Team who will do their best to assist you. For detailed information on how to change the name servers over for your domain, please contact your registrar.

Manual IP Control

The second option is to keep control of the domain at the registrar and manage the IP addresses manually. This is not a recommended solution, and should only be attempted if you know what you are doing and have experience with DNS. While we will attempt to answer any questions you have on this arrangement, we may only be able to provide limited support.

For this you will need to use the IP address assigned to your account (see your Account Details e-mail for the address) for one or more of the A and/or MX records. If you believe that you need to use this method, or would like to discuss setting up this method, please Submit a Ticket to our Support Team.
