Can I view my access and error logs?


By default, you can only view the access and error logs though the Plesk Control Panel. The permissions for the directory which holds the log files means you can't view them by via the console or with any CGI script. If you wish access in this mannor (i.e. outside Plesk), you will need to Submit a Ticket to our support team so we can modify the permissions.


To view them through Plesk:



  • First, log onto the Plesk Control Panel (all details can be found in the 'Account Details' e-mail, dispatched to you when your account is activated).

  • If you have logged on at the Client Level (this is the default level), please click on the name of the domain you wish to view the logs of. This will load the domain's settings page.

  • Towards the bottom of the list of icons click on the one labelled Log Manager.

  • The next page will show you a list of files within your logs directory - click on the log you would like to view. Normally this is just access_log or error_log. Logs that have been processed (i.e. read by our programs to create your statistics pages) will have .processed appended, such as access_log.processed. If you also have log rotation enabled, the log number will be appended. access_log.processed will become access_log_processed.1 and then access_log.processed.2 as each rotation is performed.

  • You can also download the logs from here if you wish. Note that if they have the extension .gz, they have been gziped up and you will need a program, such as WinRAR to unpack them.
